Britain’s Motorists Regularly Leave GBPBillions in Their Cars Overnight

LONDON-- April 14, 2011: British motorists regularly leave an astonishing 3.2 BILLION pounds Sterling worth of belongings in their cars overnight, according to new research from leading insurer, Your Cover car insurance, part of Allianz Insurance.
The research showed that despite the ever present risk of car crime, motorists appear to be content to leave expensive items in their cars and hope the vehicle will not be broken into while they sleep.
According to the survey, the most common high value items left in unattended cars overnight include:
- Portable sat navs
- MP3 players
- Golf clubs
- Mobile phones
- Sun glasses
- Cameras
- Handbags
- Wallets

Abilene police identify suspect shot, killed by officer

An Abilene police officer shot and killed an armed suspect Wednesday night near Sears Park while he was trying to break into a house to evade police, Abilene Police Chief Stan Standridge said in a news release.

Cars charred in Barkhamsted fire

Barkhamsted, Conn. (WTNH) - Two cars were scorched following a fire at a home in Barkhamsted Thursday morning.
The fire broke out on Center Hill Road around 4am.
"I walked outside and looked in the garage door and it was flaming, so I decided to go back inside, put my pants on and come back out," said the homeowner, Storm Connors.
Storm is a volunteer firefighter and was able to get his wife and their dog out safely.
"And called 911. And they were here pretty quick. There were a lot of firemen here. Around 50, I think," said Dee Connors.
